Start Now or Start Later? Choosing a TravelPass Start Mode

Quick answer

TravelPass offers three start modes: manual activation later, immediate activation after confirmed payment, or a future scheduled UTC start. Choose at checkout according to when you need access. The mode determines the start; the quote's granted days determine the continuous duration.

Manual: you decide when to begin

Select the option to start it later if you want to pay while preparing and activate when the trip actually begins. After payment is confirmed, the paid pass waits for Start my pass.

This separates purchase preparation from the access clock. How to Start a TravelPass Manually When Your Trip Begins describes the manual action. Remember that waiting also means the pass does not yet supply VPN access.

Immediate: confirmation starts the period

Choose the immediate option when you want the pass to start as soon as payment is confirmed. The meaningful event is confirmed payment, not simply opening a checkout or returning to the website.

This can fit a trip already underway. It is less suitable if you are buying several days before you need the connection, because the clock can consume that preparation time.

Scheduled: use a deliberate UTC time

Choose a future start within the 30-day checkout window when your timing is fixed. Convert the intended local time to UTC and confirm the date as well as the hour. A date-time entry without a time-zone selector should not be assumed to mean the destination's local time.

Scheduling a TravelPass: UTC, Time Zones and the 30-Day Window walks through the conversion. If payment confirms after the chosen scheduled time, the current flow starts the full pass at confirmation instead of consuming an unpaid period. Review the dates actually displayed in the account.

Do not confuse a start choice with pausing

Whichever mode starts the pass, activated time runs continuously to expiry. Disconnecting is not a pause action, and the current selection should not be treated as an editable itinerary booking.

TravelPass Pricing Explained: $1.49, Daily Pricing and the 30-Day Pass explains granted validity. Check the saved mode and dates before checkout, especially if a delayed flight would change the time you want the access period to begin.

Common questions

Which ALightVPN TravelPass start mode suits an uncertain trip?

Manual activation lets a paid ALightVPN TravelPass wait until you press Start my pass. Create your ALightVPN account to review that choice before a trip whose departure time may change.

When does an immediate ALightVPN TravelPass begin?

Its access begins after payment confirmation, not merely after opening checkout or a success page. Sign up at ALightVPN to choose immediate activation when you actually need the period to start.

How can I arrange a future ALightVPN TravelPass start?

Choose a future UTC start within 30 days at checkout and verify the intended date and time. Start with an ALightVPN account to review scheduling alongside manual and immediate options.

Can any ALightVPN TravelPass start mode pause the clock later?

No. Activated ALightVPN TravelPass validity runs continuously, regardless of start mode or connected hours. Visit ALightVPN to choose the duration and start that match the full period you need.
